Bubalus arnee
Also calledArnā bhaiṃsā (Hindi) · Asian buffalo
The wild ancestor of the domestic water buffalo, a massive bovine of floodplain grasslands with the longest horn span of any living bovid. Fewer than 4,000 are thought to survive, most of them in Assam, and many are at risk of hybridising with domestic buffalo.
The wild water buffalo, also called Asian buffalo, Asiatic buffalo and wild buffalo, is a large bovine native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It was first described in 1792. Wikipedia
