discussion
Discussion: Subgenus Gerbillus. The conspecificity of dunni with G. latastei was suggested, without supporting evidence, by Cockrum (1977), but Lay (1983) noted that the latter's geographic range lies more than 4000 km from that of G. dunni. Yalden et al. (1996) included dunni in G. pulvinatus. Chromosomal data documented by Capanna and Merani (1981).

COMMENT: May be conspecific with latastei; see Cockrum, 1977, Mammalia, 41: 78, and Schlitter, 1976, Diss. Abstr. Int., 37 (6). Yalden, 1976, Monitore Zool. Ital., suppl. 8: 25, included dunni in pyramidum.
