First described in: Regan, C. T. (1916). The morphology of the cyprinodont fishes of the subfamily Phallostethinae, with descriptions of a new genus and two new species. <em>Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London.</em> (pt 1): 1-26, Pls. 1-4.
